This course is an inquiry into values. It encourages you to think and re-think about
our culture and yourself. The variety of wide-ranging books are chosen to provoke you
into such an inquiry. Class discussions should be lively. You might visit an art
gallery or museum, attend a musical event, and write about these experiences. You should
confront both new and abiding ideas in this course. Welcome to the journey.
