I. Basic Literacy Requirements
- RPW 110 (first year, second semester)
- RPW 210 (second year, first semester)
- Any mathematics course except M 118 taught by the A&S math department
- Foreign Language OR Oral Communication and Computer Skills
- Students must complete:
- through the second level of a Foreign Language (110-111)
- OR
- CMM 115 and a CS course.
II. Breadth and Integration: Distribution Requirements

Humanities
- Philosophy (PHI 110)
- World History (HIS 100 or HIS 101)
- Literature (ENG 140 or LIT in For. Lang.)
- Additional Humanities
- If Humanities Majors: either AUCW or AUCC and additional English Literature, History, Literature in a Foreign Language or Philosophy (except PHI 220)
- If Other Major: AUCW and AUCC

Arts
- If Arts Major:
- Two courses from Art History (ART), Music (HLM), Cinema (CIN), or Drama (DRA)
- Other Majors except B.S.:
- AUCA and additional course in Art History (ART), Music (HLM), Cinema (CIN), or Drama (DRA)
- B.S. majors:

Social Sciences
- American Government (POL 100)
- Social Science Majors:
- Two courses from the Social Sciences (EC, POL, PSY, SOC)
- Other Majors:
- One AUCS course and an additional EC, POL, PSY or SOC

Natural Sciences:
- If Science major:
- Two 4-credit laboratory sciences courses
- Other Majors:
- One 4 credit AUCT course and one 4-credit laboratory science
III. Exploration and Breadth
- Two writing-intensive courses at the 200, 300, or 400 level (indicated by W following the course code, e.g., CMM 250W)
