Politics, Economics, and International Studies Department

At the University of Hartford, the Department of Politics, Economics, and International Studies brings together three separate but related academic programs that offer both majors and minors. All three programs offer small classes, individualized academic advising, and opportunities for gaining real-world experience. Intern with local corporations, nonprofits, or state and national government offices. Study and/or intern abroad in semester or during summer and winter programs. Take advantage of dynamic classes that feature flipped classrooms, simulations, and a range of service learning activities. Collaborate with professors on real-world research and analysis.

The three majors—Politics and Government, Economics, and International Studies— are closely related. Many of our students double major or major in one and minor in another. All three programs thoroughly prepare graduates for a wide range of careers in government, business, education, and the nonprofit sector. In addition, many of our students go on to obtain graduate degrees or study the law.
