Participants will be divided into 3 groups at workshop. Each group will spend 50 minutes in each session.

  • The Obligation of Memory: The Responsibility of Remembering the Holocaust in the 21st Century

  • Making the Connections: The Holocaust, Genocide, and Contemporary Crises Abigail Miller, Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Clark University

  • Hartford Remembers the Holocaust: Guided tours of new Museum of Jewish Civilization exhibit featuring the stories of six survivors of the Holocaust, with Prof. Avinoam Patt, Museum director and Steve Shaw, filmmaker

Panel Discussion featuring six Holocaust survivors from Hartford Remembers the Holocaust: Margot Jeremias, Ruth Fishman, Leon Chameides, Rabbi Philip and Ruth Lazowski, and Abraham (Abby) Weiner

Pedagogical Session Facilitated by Holocaust Educators Workshop Committee – How would you develop curricula around the new exhibit? Around using testimonies of survivors and the next generation? Around field trips to Museum?
