A blizzard warning goes into effect for our area this evening and Connecticut has issued a statewide travel ban starting at 9 p.m. The University is now closed as of 3 p.m. today and will be closed all day tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 27. Day and evening classes are canceled through tomorrow. An updated advisory on the status of classes and operations for Wednesday will be posted Tuesday evening. During the time that the University is closed, the Commons, Subway, and Village Market will maintain regular hours for residential dining services and the Sports Center will be open for use by residential students only. The Program in International Studies at the University of Hartford offers an interdisciplinary minor that makes use of faculty expertise across disciplines. The program allows students to approach global issues in their complexity, including politics, economics, language, history, communication, culture and arts.
The program prepares students to live, think, and work in a world that is changing rapidly and often with great unpredictability. The major is particularly appropriate for those interested in careers in government, business, education, the nonprofit sector, and certain areas of law. It also provides a solid background for graduate studies in several fields. Faculty advisors work closely with each student to tailor the program to his or her learning objectives and career plans. Students who major in IS are also strongly encouraged to study abroad during the course of their studies. This can take the form of a semester or year abroad, or by participating in a short-term Winter-term or Summer-term program abroad.
