Career Counseling

Helping you take charge of your career

At the Center for Professional Development, we provide career development programs and services, enabling you to design your own unique pathway to success.

We can help you:

  • Explore career options or change career direction
  • Learn how to enter or re-enter the workforce
  • Identify your strengths and how they apply to your career
  • Take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and/or the Strong Interest Inventory
  • Develop a strategy to advance in your career
  • Decide which educational path to pursue
  • Enhance your job search, networking, résumé writing and interview skills
  • Learn how to deal with unpleasant work situations or difficult supervisors or co-workers
  • Plan for your job, volunteer, or leisure activities in your retirement

Here are some of the career assessment tools we use to help you.

We have a sliding scale and provide financial assistance for individuals who can't afford to pay the full amount for our career counseling services.

For more than 40 years, women and men in Connecticut have come to the Center for assistance with career planning and development. In a proactive process, you understand how your unique blend of skills, talents, values, interests and personality traits affect your career decisions and you receive assistance in making career choices.
