WHAT EVER HAPPENED JACK HARDY?
The decade between 1965 and 1975 was nothing if not volatile. The counterculture had begun and flourished. Seismic events like protests over the Vietnam War; the 1968 Democratic Convention; the assassinations of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.; Kent State; and Woodstock had a big impact on many University of Hartford student leaders.

Born to Sing
You could say that music is a really moving experience for the Hinds sisters. When Esther Hinds ('65) was pregnant with her third daughter, she was performing one day in the renowned Robert Shaw Festival when the baby moved inside her. Suddenly, Hinds realized that the movement was in response to the singing of the coloratura soprano who was then on stage.

The Unsinkable Titanic
Following the success of his tone poem Titanic, Peter Boyer (Hartt MM '93, DMA '95) is fast becoming a Titan in the sea of American composers. He is one of only a handful of young American composers to attain his high level of success, as measured by performances of his symphonic works by notable orchestras, significant awards and commissions and high-profile critical acclaim.

Ties That Bind
Ties That Bind
Thirty years ago, Kazuo Ninomiya was a graduate student in business administration at the University of Hartford, and Yuko Ninomiya, his wife, was teaching, performing, and studying at The Hartt School. Although they returned to Japan in 1986, their son, Kazunoti, born in Hartford, is currently pursuing his master's degree in business administration at the University's Barney School of Business.
