1961
ELNA LINDSTROM STRATTON (HCW) of Girardville, Pa., writes that after completing her MDiv degree at Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University, she studied at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. She is now serving as vicar of a small Lutheran church in Girardville and hopes to be ordained in 2000. Both her children are married, her son lives in Nevada, and her daughter and only grandchild, Alexandra, in Pennsylvania.


1962
JOHN FRANCIS COSKER (A&S) of Wethersfield, Conn., credits the University of Hartford for helping him achieve the "successes afforded to me in my life." He retired as director of human services for the Town of Wethersfield in 1997, after spending 34 years in the field of social work, a career he found very rewarding. He remains active in community and church projects. "The University," he says, "will always remain in my fondest memories."

SUSAN FORBES HANSEN (HCW) of West Hartford, Conn., celebrated 20 years in September as host/producer of "The Sunday Night Folk Festival" on WHUS-FM, Storrs, Conn., with a concert at Cheney Hall, Manchester. The list of performers included Connecticut state troubadour Hugh Blumenfeld and WAMMIE-award winners from Washington, D.C. Susan, who also produced the 25th Anniversary Family Folk Festival in Hartford's Elizabeth Park, in August, has hosted/produced "Valley Folk" on WFCR-FM for 15 years. She is in her 22nd year as department head of fashion technology at Prince Technical High School in Hartford.


1964
MICHAEL E. MIRSKY (A&S) of Albany, N.Y., represented the University of Hartford at the recent inauguration of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's new president. Mike is a consultant in school facilities planning and just retired from the New York State Department of Education.

RACHEL E. TANNENBAUM (ENHP, MEd '68) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., recently has been signed to a contract with the Broward County courts. She will be working in civil/county court mediation and juvenile arbitration.


1969
PETER H. ALFORD (ENHP, MEd) of Bethlehem, N.H., is back in New England after 10 years in the Southwest and Midwest. He is director of admissions at the White Mountain School, a college preparatory school in Bethlehem. His e-mail address is <palford@whitemountain.org>.

MARILYN MYLCHREEST MCALEAVEY (HARTT) of Bethel, Conn., is acting music department head in Danbury, Conn., where she directs the sixth-grade chorus, middle school chorus, Wooster Singers, the Madrigals, and two handbell choirs. As director of music for the United Methodist Church in Bethel, she is responsible for the Chancel Choir, Choristers, and two handbell choirs. She is a former member of the professional choir at St. Bartholomew's Church, Park Avenue, New York City.

NORMAN NEMETH (ART) of West Chester, Pa., is a sculptor. After graduation, he worked for 10 years at the Franklin Mint, then for 18 years did similar commercial work. He is now trying to get back to his own sculpture.

CONNIE SHAW (HCW) of Fairfax, Calif., lives in the San Francisco area with her 13-year-old son, Forrest. She is a free-lance software designer, who also writes poetry and short stories and is trying to start an alternative school.

THE REV. RAYMOND RUSSELL SHEA (ENHP, MEd) of West Hartford, Conn., has held the position of senior minister of Unity Church, West Hartford, for the past three years. Although the Unity movement is less well-known in New England, he writes, it has flourished in the United States and abroad since its inception in the 19th century in Kansas City, Mo. The West Hartford church, whose programs are growing in popularity, is one of three Unity churches in Connecticut.
