1970
JOSÉ A. LEITE (BARNEY, MBA) of João Pessoa-PB, Brazil, is a professor of economics and finance in the master's programs in business and economics at the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil. He came to Hartford a year ago as visiting professor in the executive MBA program at the West Hartford campus of the University of Connecticut and found that "it was quite an experience teaching in the same city where I had been a student 30 years before."

PAULA SOURIFMAN TALMANSON (ENHP) of Ashland, Mass., is teaching second grade in the Ashland public school system.


1971
MARK GREENBERG (ENHP) of Pearl River, N.Y., was selected as the sports vision optometrist of the year 1999 by the American Optometric Association. At the UofH in 1969 and 1970, he was named to the All-American club football team as a line backer.


1972
MARGARET FRADETTE (HCW) of Narraganset, R.I., is Northeast regional business director for Johnson and Johnson's Ethicon Inc. Division. Ethicon is the largest medical/surgical company in the professional sector. Margaret has been married to her husband, Bill, for 24 years. Their son, Bryce, is a student at Curry College, and their daughter, Shalaine, is a Johns Hopkins Scholar, who performed in Gypsy at Theatre-by-the-Sea (R.I.) in the summer.

LYNN VIGUSIN GOTLER (A&S) of Corte Madera, Calif., writes that she is a registered nurse and has two children, Ian, 19, and Stacey, 12.

GARY MARTIN, D.C., (BARNEY) of Alpharetta, Ga., has been certified as an instructor in the Zone Diet and Nutrition Program by Dr. Barry Sears, author of The Zone, Mastering the Zone, and The Anti-Aging Zone. A practicing doctor of chiropractic, Gary is now teaching individuals, corporations, physicians, and through local hospitals.

ALANNA J. MOZZER (ENHP) of Agawam, Mass., has adopted Annie Hong Jiao, who is 2 1/2 years old. She was born in Hubei Province, China.

BRUCE H. STANGER (ENG) of West Hartford, Conn., recently merged his law practice with the Hartford law firm of Sorokin, Gross & Hyde, P.C., where he is now a principal in the litigation and business and commercial law groups. Bruce, who is active in both civic and professional organizations, has been president of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford from 1997 to 1999.

CHERYL DORMAN TOSK (A&S) of Lincroft, N.J., received a master's degree in social work from Kean University in May. In September she accepted a new position with Meridian Academy at Colts Neck, N.J.

JAMES VOKETAITIS (BARNEY) of Forest Hills, N.Y., writes that since graduating from the UofH, he has gone on to earn his MFA in English literature from City University of New York and has taught creative writing workshops at local colleges. RICHARD MICHAUD (A&S) of Hartford, Conn., is founder and director of The Rumple Players, a theatrical group formed in 1993. In October he directed A Bad Year For Tomatoes by John Patrick, presented at eight retirement homes and two venues for public viewing. Richard recently directed Bus Stop for the Hole-in-the-Wall Theatre and as executive director is a board member of the Pride City Players of Hartford.

RICHARD E. NEAL (BARNEY) of Springfield, Mass., U.S. Representative from Massachusetts (D-Second Dist.), presented the commencement address and received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws at Elms College in Chicopee, Mass., at commencement exercises in May.


1977
ELAINE BESSETTE (ENHP, SIXTH YEAR) of Bloomfield, Conn., principal of William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, Conn., for nine years, has been named headmistress of Greenwich (Conn.) High School.


1978
ROBERT A. HAMMOND (BARNEY, MBA) of Liberty Corner, N.J., has been promoted from his current position of director of financial analysis and planning to corporate controller of TransTechnology Corporation, a New Jersey-based manufacturer of specialty fasteners and aerospace products.

JODI KATZMAN (A&S) of New York, N.Y., recently joined Avon Products, Inc., in New York as manager, U.S. Events & Motivation. She will be responsible for the planning, development, and management of the company's global motivation, recognition, and incentive programs. Prior to joining Avon, Jodi worked for 15 years as an independent special events and television producer and has a long list of clients including Blockbuster Entertainment, MTV, the 1996 Olympic Games, and Mercedes-Benz. Her TV credits include the Miss America Pageant and Grammy Awards. She is also a production stage manager with over 50 productions to her credit.

JANET S. MALEY (BARNEY, MS), CPA, of Woodbridge, Conn., has been named by the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants to serve on the society's 13-member board of governors for the 1999-2000 activity year. Janet is the principal in the Woodbridge firm of Janet S. Maley, CPA.


1979
WILLIS FORRESTER (BARNEY, MPA) of Atlanta, Ga., retired as field services branch chief, HIV/AIDS Division, National Center for Infectious Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, in 1994 and as executive director, Council of State & Territorial Epidemiologists, National Headquarters, Atlanta, in 1998.

MARVIN KELLY (BARNEY) of Austin, Texas, was awarded the Citation of Meritorious Achievement from the Dictionary of International Biography and will be included in the 27th edition (1999) of this publication in Cambridge, England. He received a plaque from the University of Texas risk management faculty for excellence in teaching as a lecturer for the 1999 spring semester. He was also selected and attended the Fifth African/African-American Summit in Ghana, West Africa, in May.

LISA CRESSWELL KLOMAN (A&S) of San Diego, Calif., who retired in 1990, loves taking adventure trips -- hiking, rowing, kayaking -- to wilderness areas all over the world. In December, she will be off to Sydney, Australia, to hike in the bush and to welcome the year 2000 with friends. In June-July, 2000, she will be cruising on a small schooner off the southeast coast of Alaska to watch humpback whales off islands between Juneau and Prince Rupert, British Columbia, followed by a week of hiking in Denali National Park.

DEBRA JOHNSON LAMBERT (HARTT, MMus) of Menlo Park, Calif., is singing and teaching in the San Francisco Bay area. Recent performances include a program of the cabaret music of Kurt Weill and Friederich Hollaender for the San Francisco Symphony, a fully staged performance of Bernstein's Mass for the Cabrillo Music Festival, and the role of The Mother in Menotti's opera The Consul. Debra is teaching on the faculty of the American Conservatory Theatre of San Francisco and in Santa Clara University's music and theatre departments.

DONNA MAGEAU PETERSON (HCW) of Bolton, Conn., returned to school in September 1995 at Western New England College of Law, received her JD degree and passed the Connecticut bar exam in 1998. She is currently working as assistant counsel at Lydall, Inc., Manchester, Conn. Donna is married and has two children, ages 10 and 13.

CLIFFORD "KIP" ROSS (A&S) of Morrisville, Vt., is the founder, president and head brewer at Kross Brewing Co. in Morrisville (right next to Stowe, Vt.). His company is the only brewery in New England producing Belgian-style, bottle-conditioned ales. He invites alumni visiting the area to stop by, say "hi," and sample some beer.
