CHARLES J. FRAGO (BARNEY), CPA, of Cromwell, Conn., has been elected by the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants to serve as president for the organization's 1999-2000 fiscal year. Charles is a senior manager with the Hartford office of KPMG, LLP.

STEPHEN P. HARRIS (BARNEY, MBA) of Parsippany, N.J., was named director, marketing, in the Emerging Business Services Division of Automated Data Processing (ADP) in Parsippany. MELISSA KASS (A&S) of Stoneham, Mass., recently promoted to account coordinator for Tommy Hilfiger/Aramis Fragrances, a division of Estée Lauder, writes that on a visit of Tommy Hilfiger to the Boston area, Hilfiger requested that Melissa's 12-year-old son, Adam, "very much the 'Tommy' look," appear on the runway for the fall fashion show at the South Shore Plaza, Braintree, Mass. "Adam took to the runway like a duck to water," she says. "We are still basking in the glory." Melissa's accounts include Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstroms, and Saks Fifth Avenue in the Boston and Rhode Island regions.

ROBERT BLUM
(BARNEY, MSPA) of Southington, Conn., director of underwriting/ contracting at MedSpan Inc., has won Healthcare Financial Management Association's Follmer Bronze Merit Award.

ROBERT L. MOISOFF (BARNEY, MBA) of Concord, Calif., was promoted to vice president at Bank of America in San Francisco, Calif., in July. He manages computer systems teams in Dallas, Texas, and Charlotte, N.C., responsible for the testing and recovery of critical bank applications.


1982
DAVID DALENA (HARTT) of Jamaica Plain, Mass., has relocated to Boston with his partner, BRIAN PATTON (HARTT '87), after seven years with The Bushnell in Hartford, Conn., most recently as associate director of communications. He has begun a new position as director of marketing and public relations for the BankBoston Celebrity Series, New England's major nonprofit performing arts presenter, with artists performing in Boston's major venues, including Symphony Hall, New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall, and the Wang Center. Brian completed a summer as director of music for the Sharon (Mass.) Country Day Camp and has accepted a full-time music teaching position at Diamond

Middle School in Lexington, Mass. He continues an active schedule of musical engagements in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

BARBARA HOPKINS (HARTT) of West Hartford, Conn., performed at the 1999 National Flute Association Convention in Atlanta, Ga., as a winner of the Convention Performers Competition. She was recently named flute instructor at the University of Connecticut.

JAMES ALBION
(A&S) of Dover, N.H., owns and operates ZMJ Enterprises, Inc. (professional writing and proofreading) and Jacob-Maxwell Publishing (original designs, i.e., t-shirts, slogans, brochures) since 1991. He has been married to Michele Mehrwein since 1994. They have a daughter, Zoe Madeleine, born in February 1998.

TERI FIORITO BAYS (HARTT) of Caldwell, N.J., recently has released her debut CD called Spark of Creation. BRUCE EWING (HARTT '83) shares a duet with Teri on the album, which can be purchased directly through GraceNotes at 1-800-981-BAYS. Teri has starred as Maria in The Sound of Music at the John Harms Theatre and Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania, performed one-woman shows in cabaret clubs in New York City, and has sung the National Anthem at New Jersey Devils' games. She has been director of music at Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell, N.J., for the past 10 years.

WU HAN (HARTT, MMus) of New York, N.Y., a pianist, and her husband, cellist David Finckel of the Emerson String Quartet, in residence at The Hartt School, recently presented a program of piano and cello masterpieces at Spivey Hall, Clayton College & State University, Atlanta, Ga. The two artists, separately and together, play more than 200 concerts a year.

ROBERT A. LANDINO (ENG) of Hamden, Conn., divides his time between the state legislature, to which he was elected in 1995, and the BL Co., the civil engineering firm that he and his wife, Eve Barakos, established 13 years ago. Robert was the subject of a Meriden (Conn.) Record-Journal story in May when he was named engineer of the year by the Connecticut Engineers in Private Practice.

MICHAEL BERMAN (BARNEY) of Warren, N.J., is celebrating 10 years of owning Premier Office Supply in Kenilworth, N.J. He and his wife, Jill, have two daughters, Casey, 8, and Samantha, 4.

GEORGE HENRIQUES (WARD) of Westborough, Mass., has taken a new position as vice president, information technology, with Renaissance Pharmaceuticals and its affiliate, PharmaConnect, in Westborough. Renaissance specializes in drug delivery systems, and PharmaConnect is an Internet company developing a Web-based application focused on the practicing physician. KATHLEEN M. KENNEDY (HCW) of West Hartford, Conn., owns and manages a travel consulting firm, The Escape Artists, which specializes in special interest and adventure travel.

STEPHAN MESCHTER (ENG) of Endicott, N.Y., has been with Lockheed Martin (formerly General Electric) for 15 years. He is currently working on his PhD in mechanical engineering and expects to earn his degree next year. He and his wife of 13 years, Karen, have two sons, Andreas, 9, and Tomas, 5. Karen owns a Jazzercise franchise.

DEBRA K. PASQUALE (A&S) of Farmington, Conn., is founder and chief executive of Connecticut United for Research Excellence, Inc. (CURE), one of the country's pre-eminent biomedical research information and advocacy organizations. The Herald Press featured Debra in an extended interview in May, detailing CURE's function as bridge among the legislature, community, media,public at large, and the bioscience research community.

EMILY B. CANTOR
(A&S) of West Hartford, Conn., has been with ESPN for the past six years, working in remote production and on such sports as college basketball and the WNBA. She remains in close contact with UofH friends.

MELINDA EVANS (BARNEY) of Zurich, Switzerland, assistant director of accounting policy for the Swiss bank, UBS AG, has been transferred from Stamford, Conn., to the corporate center in Zurich for a three-year assignment. UBS AG is one of the largest companies in the world to adopt international accounting standards, Melinda tells us.

KENNETH JEWELL
(A&S) of Piermont, N.Y., has been admitted to the partnership of Deloitte & Touche and is located in the firm's Stamford, Conn., office. Kenneth is responsible for multistate tax services and specializes in mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and telecommunications. After graduation from the UofH, he received a JD degree from DePaul University Law School and an LLM in taxation from Boston University Law School. He is a member of the New York Bar.

BARRY KLEINBERG (A&S) of Wallingford, Conn., account executive at Sprint PCS since 1997, received an award for superior performance at Sprint's annual area awards dinner held in Framingham, Mass.,in May.

DOUGLAS COTE (BARNEY, MBA), CFA, of Hartford, Conn., was profiled in the August Hartford Business Journal. Douglas is stock analyst for Aeltus, an Aetna subsidiary offering a full range of investment options. He is a believer in community involvement and started a scholarship fund, the Hartford Inner City Scholarship Fund, with the Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools.

DAN CROCI (ART) of Goshen, Conn., has been promoted to co-creative director of Martino & Binzer, Avon, Conn. Dan will be working on all agency accounts, including such clients as Loctite Corporation, AMS Services Inc., and Veeder-Root. He previously served as associate creative director, and formerly was a senior art director at Lang/Durham & Company, Hartford, Conn.

FRANK SALVATORE (A&S) of Danbury, Conn., recently was elected president of the Connecticut Society for Respiratory Care. His term will start in May 2000. Frank is a clinical resource consultant for respiratory care at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, Conn. He is also a volunteer fire captain at the Water Witch Hose Co. No. 7 in Danbury.

AMY FELDMAN BERNON (HARTT) of Woodbury, Conn., has been working on several commissioned choral works, including one celebrating children's choirs in Connecticut at the time of the millennium. This is her sixth year as a music teacher and accompanist at the Taft School in Watertown, Conn., and her fourth as music director of the Litchfield County Children's Choir.

BRIAN CONVERY (BARNEY) of San Francisco, Calif., is currently employed at PwC, LLP, as a principal consultant in the SAP practice out of San Francisco. During the past summer, he purchased an 1895 Victorian-style house on Alameda Island in the East Bay, originally the site of a Naval base and now home to about 75,000 residents.

JOHN "J.D." DALLAM (HARTT) of Jersey City, N.J., is running his own music publishing and copyright administration company, Missing Link Music. J.D. oversees the licensing and royalty collection for hundreds of hit songwriters and producers. ELIZABETH BAGO DILORENZO (A&S) of Hillsdale, N.J., is a recruiter assistant at TSR Consulting, Edison, N.J., which provides business and technical expertise to corporate clients.

SUZANNE DRISCOLL (ART) of Riverside, N.J., was married to artist David Gamber in 1991 and has twin girls, Sophie and Olivia, born in 1996.

PAUL MALLOY EATON (HARTT) of Philadelphia, Pa., is preparing the release of a second album by his band, P.M. and the New Breeds. He has been performing as a guitarist with T.M. Stevens (of Joe Cocker, Miles Davis, Steve Vai, and Pretenders fame) and with Bernie Worrell of P-Funk fame. He has
recorded one album with T.M. Stevens. In May, he toured Cuba with the Philadelphia Boys Choir and plans a return engagement this November.

Since graduation, KATHERINE HORNER EDLUND (HCW) of West Hartford, Conn., has been selling personal lines of insurance, but considers her greatest accomplishment "two beautiful daughters that my husband, Paul, and I are raising." As in college, she is still active in girls' lacrosse, officiating for local secondary school games.

LEE ANNE EMERY-GOERG (HARTT) of Cheshire, Conn., works as a music teacher and plays piano in a local church. She and Thomas Goerg were married in 1997.

PHIL J. FIORE (A&S) of Granby, Conn., founder and senior partner of the Fiore Consulting Group, was recently honored as one of Hartford's Top New Business Leaders by the Hartford Business Journal. The annual award honors 40 people for their success in the business world, for their community-mindedness, and for their overall achievements. Phil is married to JILL COLE, A&S '89.

DONNA FRUSTERE (ART, MAEd) of Avon, Conn., has two scheduled showings of her photography and prints this November and December in the Promenade Gallery of The Bushnell and at Zuzu's Café, Hartford. Donna is an instructor at the Kingswood-Oxford School, teaches in the HOT School Program for the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, and is co-chair of Connecticut Women Artists.

MARY KAY JERIGE (BARNEY, MBA) of Newton, Mass., recently accepted a position as marketing communications coordinator at PennNet, the Internet subsidiary of PennWell Publishing, a publisher of more than 40 business magazines. Mary Kay is responsible for marketing PennNet's online communities for PennWell's advanced technology division located in Nashua, N.H. She will continue her consulting activities with Discipleship Publications International and other clients.

TRACY L. JOHNSON (BARNEY) of Largo, Fla., has started a new position as senior financial analyst with TechData Corporation based in Clearwater, Fla.

KENNETH KADET (A&S) of Minneapolis, Minn., was recently promoted to managing supervisor at Fleishman-Hillard, Inc., a public relations agency. He writes that he has been happily married for two years.

JERRY KELLY (BARNEY) of Hobe Sound, Fla., has combined a career in golf with a passion for hockey. When he came to the University, Jerry planned to pursue both sports, but hockey was dropped from the program. "That first season we were undefeated in golf, and it kind of let me forget about hockey a little bit," he said. Now he has a golf career with two top-10 finishes and eight top 25s. He made the cut 17 times in 31 tournaments, and his best career finish was a second in the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open. Jerry played his third Kemper Open last May. As for hockey, he has organized a hockey tournament for PGA Tour players and their caddies.

MAUREEN M. KNAPP (BARNEY) of New York, N.Y., is working in finance/administration with the executive director of a not-for-profit housing agency. She is raising two girls, ages 5 and 2 1/2, and runs a home-based business specializing in pet care. She continues to dance ballet as "feverishly as possible." The rewards of parenting, she says, have been far greater than she had ever imagined.

Capt. DAVID LYNCH (A&S) is an F-15c instructor fighter pilot stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. David is responsible for training the next generation of "Eagle Drivers."

LAURIE HOUSHOLDER ORTH (HARTT) of Renfrew, Pa., writes, "I picked up my first career car from Mary Kay Cosmetics. It's a free, red Grand Am. Pretty neat for a part-time job as a beauty consultant. I'm in the middle of qualifying for the position of sales director." She has also begun directing the choir at a small Presbyterian church near her home and "enjoys running things after being on the other side of the podium for so long." She sings with the Butler Blazing Star Chorus and solos for local weddings. Her husband, John, enjoys teaching their 2 1/2-year-old son the finer points of golf. LENA PIETRI (ART) of Plainville, Conn., took the alternate route to certification offered by the Connecticut State Department of Higher Education during the summer of 1999 and is now an art teacher at the Plainville middle school.

CHYTANYA "BABS" RANGAIAH (A&S) of Scarsdale, N.Y., recently joined the Internet company AGENCY.COM as media director. He was formerly vice president and associate media director at DMB&B, a large advertising firm. He is married to AMANDA BYINGTON (A&S '88), and they have a 2-year-old son, Ryan.

SHARON S. REILLY (HCW) of Windsor, Conn., writes that her second daughter, Fiona Claire, was born at home with midwives last May. "Her birth has changed me forever," she says. Sharon is in the process of becoming certified as a childbirth educator and has been organizing a monthly home birth information meeting for parents and families. She is taking the prerequisites necessary for her to enter the first class of what will be the second "direct entry" (non-nurse) midwifery school in the country, the New England School of Midwifery Arts, in the fall of 2000. She hopes to combine midwifery training with a master's degree and is looking into programs in the social sciences.

LISA SCHAFFER-HARRIS (HARTT) of Midland, Texas, sang the role of Micaela in the concert version of Bizet's opera Carmen with the Midland-Odessa Symphony in October.

STEVEN SHEER (BARNEY) of Boca Raton, Fla., was recently promoted to director of advertising for Yachting Promotions, Inc., a division of Show Management Group, a leader in event management and production.
