1990
LINDA SIMOES COCCHIOLA (A&S) of Waterbury, Conn., has been appointed marketing and communications manager at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, in the community affairs department. Her responsibilities include promoting hospital programs and services and coordinating the content and production of publications. She is a former bureau chief and reporter for the Republican-American, Waterbury.

MARY DIPAOLA-DAVIS (HARTT) of West Hartford, Conn., is planning her second CD featuring three of her own pieces and an original by her husband, STEVE DAVIS (HARTT '89). At the University, Mary changed her major from classical music to jazz after hearing saxophonist Jackie McLean, she states in a May Hartford Advocate interview. Mary recorded her first CD, Cat's Cradle, in 1996. She has taught at Hartt, the Artists Collective, and privately, and has an impressive resume of gigs played. Mary and Steve have a son, Anthony.

JOY LELAND (A&S) of Tunbridge, Vt., is teaching K-12 art in a small public school in Oxford, N.H., while maintaining a position as free-lance archaeological illustrator with the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is planning her seventh trip to Egypt this fall to illustrate artifacts for publication.

MELISSA BORNMANN
(A&S) of New York, N.Y., is currently training to run in the Walt Disney World Marathon in Florida on Jan. 9, 2000, benefiting the Leukemia Society of America. She writes that she has never been an athlete, but is always one who is involved with raising money for good causes. JAIME LEVINE GARFIELD (A&S) of Parkland, Fla., recently attended the wedding of MELISSA JURMAN (ENHP '92) in New York and writes that the bride "looked gorgeous."journal. Currently he volunteers for Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic and sings in the choir at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Fairless Hills, Pa.

THIERRY PERREIN (BARNEY, MSPA) of Cos Cob, Conn., has joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc., as senior analyst in the firm's fixed income research department, where he will be responsible for analyzing real estate investment trusts and real estate-related companies. Thierry spent the past eight years as a leading real estate analyst for Moody's Investor Services and is described as a "high-profile analyst" by his new firm.

JEFFREY RICHTER (BARNEY, MEd '93) of Eastchester, N.Y., is a physical education teacher in the Eastchester public school system, coaching soccer, basketball and softball. He also serves on a New York state council for physical education curriculum and is supervising all project adventure activities throughout the school district. In August, he was married to Fern Schnessel in Scranton, Pa.

ANDREA SCHNIETZ (A&S) of Santa Fe, N.M., says she is living in "one of the most beautiful places on earth." She asks alumni in need of a massage from a "fabulous therapist" to call her when in town. She is offering 90-minute Swedish massages at reasonable rates.

MARK Z. SMALL (BARNEY) of Roswell, Ga., has started a durable medical equipment distributorship in Atlanta, Ga., specializing in pain management and rehabilitation. Before moving to Georgia, he was a ski instructor at Copper Mountain, Colo., for the 1991-92 season. Mark credits faculty member Anne Costello for the ability of his company, MER, Inc., to have third-party billing and to receive Medicare approval.

JANET WEST (BARNEY) of South Glastonbury, Conn., has been appointed chair of the health care committee of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants for the current year. Janet is a manager in the department of accounting policy and controls with Aetna U.S. Healthcare, Middletown, Conn. She is also vice president of community relations for Community Accounting Aid and Services and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.

TODD ZAVORSKAS (A&S) of Hamden, Conn., is in his sixth year teaching eighth-grade science in North Haven (Conn.) Middle School. He married Kellam Dowd at the Stamford Yacht Club in June.


1992
JEFFREY ASARNOW (HILLYER) of Orlando, Fla., has started his own printing company, Print it Up, in Orlando and has established his presence in cyberspace with an e-commerce Web site at <www.printitup.com>. He previously worked for a large printing company in New York City after earning his bachelor's degree at Central Connecticut State University. LORI BELLE-ISLE (HCW) of New Haven, Conn., who earned her MPH degree at the School of Medicine, University of Connecticut Health Center, has been promoted to the position of field manager, cancer control planning, in the national home office of the American Cancer Society in Atlanta, Ga.

MARGO WARWICK GRACE (ENHP) of Waltham, Vt., graduated from the first class for reading recovery teacher training for the Addison/Rutland (Vt.) Reading Recovery Consortium. The training took a year, and Margo is now a fully certified reading recovery teacher. She works in the Addison Central School.

JACQUELINE MARTINO (HARTT) of Norwalk, Conn., earned her master's degree in studio composition at Purchase College, SUNY, in May. She also received the Alvin Brehm Award for excellence in composition. Jackie has started her own record label and publishing company, Eden Way Music, and plans to release her second CD this fall. She teaches piano and voice and is also an adjunct faculty member at SUNY-Purchase.

SIDNEY A. MURRAY (A&S) of Scarsdale, N.Y., has been elected vice president for 1999-2000 of the Southern New England School of Law student bar association in North Dartmouth, Mass. He has a record of achievement and innovation as Black Law Students Association president, organizing debates and forming a new student council.

DANIEL TYCZ (WARD) and SUSAN LOLA TYCZ (A&S) of Farmington, Conn., have both made recent employment changes. Dan has been promoted to product manager at Pratt & Whitney, Plainville, Conn. He has earned a master's degree in management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is currently working toward his MBA degree. Sue has accepted a position as media coordinator for Keiler & Company, Farmington.

SUSAN YANKEE (HARTT, MMus) of Columbia, Conn., presented a concert in August to benefit the Friends of the Deep River Public Library. A mezzo-soprano, Susan, together with tenor Eric Dillner, performed operatic, classical, and popular selections. Her credits include performing with such companies as the New York City Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Theater of Saint Louis, and Virginia Opera.

DINA ROSSI ANNINO
(A&S) of Bristol, Conn., is employed at Partitions, Inc. in East Hartford, Conn., and hosts a television talk show on Citizens Television in New Haven, Conn. Her husband, Michael, works for Federal Express in North Haven, Conn.

STEPHEN DESROCHERS (BARNEY) of Wethersfield, Conn., is a partner in the Fiore Consulting Group, a financial consulting firm specializing in full financial and estate planning for both individuals and corporations. He will be heading the retirement plans division focusing on corporate pensions and retirement plans for profit and nonprofit organizations. Steve has been featured in articles in The Hartford Courant, the Hartford Business Journal, and Hospital News.

JODI MESSINA (ENHP) of Bonita Springs, Fla., has changed careers. After teaching Spanish in North Carolina and Florida for five years, she is now employed as a membership/ program specialist by the Gulfcoast Girl Scout Council in Sarasota, Fla., working with adult volunteers. MARY JEAN AGOSTINI (BARNEY, MBA) of Berlin, Conn., currently a realtor broker with the A.O. Carroll & Agostini Company, has founded a new company, the Auction House of Connecticut, specializing in the auction of residential real estate throughout Connecticut.

JILL BLOOMSTEIN-JETER (ENHP) of Randolph, N.J., is working for Ortho Clinical Diagnostics in Raritan, N.J., as a software and biological validation tester. She and herhusband, PAUL JETER (A&S '93), recently bought a house in Randolph. Paul is an attorney at Kaps & Barto in Hackensack, N.J.

JOAN ANZELLOTTI CARPENTER (ENHP, MSN) of Koloa, Hawaii, is a nursing instructor at Kanai Community College specializing in maternal and child health and pediatrics. She also has a healing touch/Reiki clinic at the wellness center. Joan writes that she has developed many new interests since moving to Hawaii five years ago. She practices Tai Chi and has learned to play slack key Hawaiian guitar. She returns to Connecticut on summer breaks and hopes to attend a reunion. SHAWNA CASEY (A&S, MA) of San Diego, Calif., is teaching mass communication at Palomar College, San Marcos, Calif. She completed her master of science degree at San Diego State University in 1997.

JENNIFER ALOISI COLEBOURN (A&S) of North Kingstown, R.I., earned a master's degrees in physical therapy at the University of Rhode Island this year and is currently employed by an outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine practice. Jennifer's husband, CHRISTOPHER COLEBOURN (A&S '94), received a master's degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996, the year they were married. He is employed at eBusiness Technologies as a senior software engineer.

SUSAN GURWITZ (A&S) of West Hartford, Conn., has been promoted to media buyer by Mintz & Hoke, Inc., where she had been assistant media buyer.

GRAYSON KIMBALL (A&S) of Longmeadow, Mass., is enrolled in the doctoral program in sport psychology at Springfield College, Springfield, Mass.

HEIDI WOODS MARVEL (A&S) of White Plains, N.Y., recently was appointed assistant managing director of the Mony Group in Manhattan, N.Y.

SCOTT METCALFE (HARTT) of West Hartford, Conn., was appointed department chair of The Hartt School's Music Production and Technology program for the fall of 1999, following his summer term with New York University's Tonmeister/Music Technology program. He has also had an article on remote classical chamber music recording published earlier this year in MIX Magazine and recorded or mastered CD releases on Classico (Denmark), Albany Records, and CRI.

JOHN L. NEZOZZI (BARNEY, MBA) of Coronado, Calif., will be included in the upcoming 1999-2000 edition of Who's Who in American Business, a Guide to Leaders in the New Millennium. John is president of Universalis, European Council for Trade and Tourism, Coronado, and CEO and license holder of World Trade Center Baja California.

ELIZABETH PARBOO (BARNEY, EMPA) of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., recently accepted a position as health services administrator for Correctional Medical Services in New Jersey. The position entails medical oversight and day-to-day operational responsibility for a medium security, 700-bed correctional facility with a 300-bed farm and a second facility with a 1,000-bed dormitory. The position requires working closely with the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections. Previously, Elizabeth worked for over eight years as an administrator for Montefiore Medical Center on Rikers Island, New York. LISA PATTON (HARTT) of Hudson, Mass., played in the USA Volleyball National Tournament in San Jose, Calif., this past May, participating in the women's BB and B levels. She also played in the annual Bay State Games held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology this past summer. This fall, Lisa will receive her five-year employment award from Parametric Technology Corporation, where she has worked in the company's finance department. Currently she is a commission department analyst. In addition to her work at PTC, Lisa is music director for the Marlboro Community Chorus and the United Methodist Church in Hudson.

STEPHANIE ROMANOW (HCW) of Harwinton, Conn., writes that after graduating from Smith College in 1997, she left to teach English in Japan. She has been in Japan for two years and is now trying to decide what to do next. She also wants to teach and do Reiki.

PATRICIA MAGUDER WARD (A&S) of Arlington, Va., joined the Peace Corps after she graduated from the UofH and served from 1995 to 1997 as an English teacher in a high school in central Poland. In the Peace Corps, she met her future husband, Jonathan Ward; they were married in Glastonbury, Conn., in August. Among the wedding guests were A&S alums LYNN CLARK GRANT '93, LISA FOCARETA '94, LAUREN ANGELO '94, and Charlotte Bacon, faculty member in the biology department at the UofH. Father of the bride is Theodore Leo Maguder, retired chairman of the biology department. Both the bride and groom now work in Washington, D.C. Patricia currently is employed by the Wish List, a political action committee supporting pro-choice Republican women.

LAMBERT BELANDRES (A&S) of Atlanta, Ga., has been promoted from media assistant to media planner at Freebairn & Co., an Atlanta-based marketing, advertising and public relations agency.

DANIEL CAFIERO (HARTT) of West Babylon, N.Y., a lyric tenor, has made a career as a professional opera singer. He has performed such roles as Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, Alfredo in La Traviata, Cassio in Otello, Rodolfo in La Traviata, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. He has sung with the Sarasota Opera, Shreveport Opera, Lake George Opera, Connecticut Opera, The Washington Opera, and Santa Fe Opera, among others. Upcoming engagements include Ovando in Alzira with the Sarasota Opera next March and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte with the Toledo Opera next May.

ALICIA DIDONATO (HARTT) of Miami, Fla., won the 1999 Frank Bowen flutecompetition last April, was a fellow with the Tanglewood Music Center this past summer, and will perform as soloist with the Santa Fe Symphony this month. Alicia is a member of the New World Symphony in Miami.

DAVID GOLDBERG (BARNEY) writes that after numerous years of schooling, various positions and experiences, he has "landed in Dallas, Texas." He has accepted a position with Streetball International, a sports marketing and event management company headquartered in Dallas. BRIAN HELLER (HARTT) of Saint Paul, Minn., attended the Czech-American Summer Music Institute in Prague, Czech Republic, this past summer for master classes, individual study, and performances of his music. The trip was funded with a Career Opportunity Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

WILLIAM MEGOFNA (HARTT) of New Britain, Conn., is one of the three musicians comprising the band Big Ed's Gas Farm. The name comes from the television show "Twin Peaks," and the band's musical style is a Grateful Dead, jazz, R&B, and original rock variety.

GRACE PARKS MITCHELL (HCW) of West Hartford, Conn., is the assistant director of the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame, housed at Hartford College for Women. Grace is currently working on a book for younger audiences, Ordinary and Extraordinary Women of Connecticut. In October, she led her fourth annual tour of the exceptional and determined women of Hartford who are buried in Hartford's Cedar Hill Cemetery and include Elizabeth Jarvis Colt, Katharine Seymour Day, Sophia Fowler Gallaudet, Isabella Beecher Hooker, and Katharine Houghton Hepburn.

PAMELA SCHWARZ (ENHP) of Wantagh, N.Y., has been recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT), having successfully passed the necessary written and clinical licensing examinations. Pamela is employed at Southside Hospital, Bay Shore, where she has been a certified therapist (CRT).

KRISTIN BROMLEY (A&S) of Middletown, Conn., is an account coordinator with Mason & Madison Public Relations, an affiliate of Mason & Madison Inc., an advertising and public relations agency.

CHERYL PARKS CHASE (HCW) of Windsor, Conn., recently accepted the position of development director for special projects with the Southern New England Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. Her first responsibility is to expand the chapter's Joints in Motion Training Team participation. Joints in Motion Training Team helps individuals complete 26.2-mile marathons to raise funds for the Arthritis Foundation in honor of an individual with arthritis. The chapter participated in a marathon in Dublin, Ireland, in October. Cheryl went along to cheer and to learn the ins and outs of planning future marathons throughout the United States and the world.

RYAN CUMMINGS (BARNEY) of Windsor Locks, Conn., has been hired as a marketing representative by Central Connecticut CARSTARS, the nation's largest collision repair franchise with locations across the United States and Canada. Ryan will be responsible for insurance and customer relations.

SHELLEY FROLICH (ENHP) of Clinton, Mass., is a teacher at The New England Center for Children in Southboro, Mass. She is working with teenagers with autism and intensive needs. She is also studying for a master's degree in intensive special needs at Simmons College, Boston.

RYAN KLINK (A&S) of East Haddam, Conn., has been named public relations associate for the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam. He will assist the director of marketing and public relations with media relations, oversee production of theatre playbills, and serve as assistant editor of Show Music magazine.
