1990
JOSEPH A. BISCHOF (BARNEY, MBA) of Granby, Conn., has been named principal and chief administrator of St. Paul Catholic High School, Bristol, Conn. He has been the director of development for the school and has served as chairperson of the board of education in Granby.

LINDA COCCHIOLA (A&S) of Naugatuck, Conn., has been appointed marketing and communications manager at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury, Conn., in the community affairs department. She will promote the hospital and coordinate content and production of hospital publications. Linda is a former bureau chief and reporter for The Waterbury Republican-American in the Southbury (Conn.) and Naugatuck news bureaus.

LISA SHIRVINSKI (BARNEY) of New York, N.Y., has been promoted to the position of vice president with Chase Securities in the Global Syndicated Finance Department. In June, she began an executive MBA program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

FRANCESCO BONOMOLO (BARNEY) of Beverly Hills, Calif., has received an MBA degree from the Yale University School of Management.

DIANE DONCHAK (BARNEY, Paris MBA) of Brooklyn, N.Y., is the clinical community coordinator for the New York Foundling Hospital, where she evaluates and admits children with medical and rehabilitation needs. She also does marketing for the medical center. Diane has two girls, aged 18 months and 3 years.

JAIME (LEVINE) GARFIELD (A&S) of Pompano Beach, Fla., is a preschool teacher at United Cerebral Palsy, Inc., in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., working with special-needs children aged 3 and 4. She married Jason Garfield in 1997. Jaime writes that they recently moved into their newly built house and adopted a cute bichon frise puppy named Casper. Last October, they attended the wedding of RACHELLE RUBIN (BARNEY '91) and Allan Tilbor.

ROBERT C. KELLY (HARTT) of New York, N.Y., a drummer and percussionist, was scheduled to play in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. He has been substitute drummer for Les Miserables and was percussion soloist for a New York Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra concert with the Royal Swedish Ballet.

THOMAS NEAD (ENG) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., has accepted a position as project manager with the Denver civil engineering firm of Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig. He will be responsible for managing the firm's construction management division.

SHAHNA M. RICHMAN (A&S) of Chicago, Ill., left police work after earning her master's degree in forensic pathology and accepted a position as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Upon transfer to Chicago, she was assigned to the violent crimes/major offenders (VCMO) unit, specializing in kidnapping, bank robbery, fugitive and serial murder investigations. She also has become a member of the FBI emergency response team and the hazardous material (biological warfare) response unit.

1992
ALBERT FELIU (BARNEY, MBA) of Lilburn, Ga., has completed a master's degree in organizational management through the University of Phoenix's online campus based in San Francisco, Calif. Albert is a senior project manager for the Year 2000 Program Management Office of BellSouth Corporation in Atlanta, Ga.

VINCENT METALLO (HARTT) of Princeton, N.J., as director of the American Boychoir's Resident Touring Choir, presented a concert this spring in Avon, Conn., joined by Avon students and members of the Connecticut Children's Chorus. The American Boychoir makes more than 200 appearances each year in this country and abroad, often performs on TV and radio, and has made a number of CDs with world-famous orchestras.

TONY ORMOND (HARTT) of Brooklyn, N.Y., recently toured Asia as guitarist for "Bliss." The band was scheduled to tour Europe this summer, followed by a United States tour in late 1999 and early 2000.

MARJORIE SEYMOUR-CALLAGHAN (HARTT, MMus) of Danbury, Conn., performed recently with the Four Winds brass ensemble, all of whom are members of the Ridgefield (Conn.) Symphony. Marjorie also plays horn for the Bermuda Philharmonic, the New Rochelle Opera, the Newburgh Chamber Orchestra and the Hat City Horn Quartet. She is currently in the DMA program at Manhattan School of
Music. She teaches horn privately and is a brass instructor at Putnam Valley (Conn.) Middle School.

JOONA SOHN (ART) of Hartford, Conn., has been named senior designer at Keiler & Co., Farmington, Conn. 1993 AARON DRUCKER (A&S) of New York, N.Y., is completing his doctorate in psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in Alameda, Calif. He is currently a psychology intern at Long Island (N.Y.) Jewish Medical Center at Hillside Hospital.

DONNA HAYES MEYER (ENG) of Richmond, Va., has completed her PhD at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and has started a new position on the faculty of the mechanical engineering department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

KAREN NAMNOUM (BARNEY, MBA) of Newington, Conn., has been appointed to the position of construction marketing manager for O,R&L Construction Corp. Formerly employed at BankBoston's Private Bank as a marketing specialist, Karen will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships and prospects as well as promotion and project management team support.

ERIC SARANIK (A&S) of West Hartford, Conn., has worked as a broadcaster for minor league baseball teams in Norwich, Conn., and Williamsport, Pa. He was recently promoted from producer to lead sports anchor at Connecticut's only all-sports radio station, ESPN Radio 1410 in Hartford, Conn.

BRIAN FERNEY (A&S) of West Hartford, Conn., is an account executive for E! Entertainment Television in Hartford. In October 1996 he married

JENNI FREIDMAN (ART '94), who is currently director of admission for the Hartford Art School. Fellow UofH grads ERIC SARANIK (A&S '93) and ADAM RAIDER (A&S '94) frequently visit the Ferneys.

KEVIN GILBERT (BARNEY) of Bridgeport, Conn., received a master's degree in economics from Boston College in 1996 and has since been employed as a consultant with Hewitt Associates, a human resources consulting firm. Following his graduation from the UofH, he and SARAH STROMWELL (HARTT '93) toured the northwestern United States and portions of Canada, working with the Missoula Children's Theater. The two were married in August 1998.

SUSAN GURWITZ (A&S) of West Hartford, Conn., has been promoted to media buyer in the media department of Mintz & Hoke Inc. She had been assistant media buyer for the agency and previously worked as a national sales coordinator at WFSB-TV, Channel 3 in Hartford.

ADAM J. RAIDER (A&S) of Yonkers, N.Y., has worked as a staff reporter and sportswriter for the Winsted Journal and as free-lance reporter for two other Connecticut publications. Beginning this summer, he will work with veteran hockey writer/author Stan Fischler in New York and will cover the New York Rangers for the 1999-2000 season.

JOHN SELIGA (WARD) of Seymour, Conn., has been promoted to airways transportation systems specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration. He is assigned to the Bridgeport (Conn.) SEAN WITHERS (A&S) of Manchester, Conn., was recently promoted to director at NBC 30 in West Hartford. In September 1997 he married WENDY ZAVECZ (BARNEY '94), and they live happily with their two dogs, Abby and Peanut.

CHERRY DUKE (HARTT) of West Hartford, Conn., competed this spring in the annual Marguerite McCammon Vocal Competition of the Fort Worth (Texas) Opera Guild, a national competition of growing importance in the opera world. A mezzo-soprano, Cherry has appeared with the New York City Opera and Connecticut Opera.

NAVY ENSIGN AARON J. MUELLER (ENG) recently received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. During the 13-week course, Aaron received extensive instruction on a variety of specialized subjects in addition to leadership training.

KIM RULAND (A&S) of Boston, Mass., writes that she received a master's degree in teaching from Boston University in 1997 and taught seventh-grade English for a year and a half. She is currently working for Fortune magazine in advertising sales.

STEVEN H. WOLFE (BARNEY) of East Lyme, Conn., has opened a home maintenance company specializing in painting of Victorian homes, carpentry, repairs, and professional grounds care.

SHELBY BONOMO (ART) of West Hartford, Conn., recently exhibited her work at "Uncommon Threads," a vintage clothing store in Middletown, Conn., whose proceeds help fund the city's Eddy Homeless Shelter. Shelby was the first artist to participate in what is intended to be a monthly redesign of the store by top local artists. Her exhibit was the subject of a lengthy feature story and photo in The Middletown Press. Among other things, Shelby does mosaics, furniture, drawings, and illustrations, especially for children's books.

GARY TOMASSETTI (HARTT, MMus) of Waterbury, Conn., was accompanist for this year's annual spring concert of the Southington (Conn.) Festival Chorale. A longtime member of the group, Gary has been involved with choral music for over 25 years. He has composed and arranged many vocal and instrumental performances for the chorale, including more than 120 pages of string and trumpet parts for the 1999 spring concert.

1998
KRISTEN ALLEN (HARTT) of Arden, N.C., an alto saxophonist, was among a group of jazz professionals featured in a recent Hartford Courant article on alumni of Hall High School in West Hartford, Conn. Kris was cited as a University performance major and protégé of alto saxophonist Jackie McLean. She went on to found the Kris Allen Jazz Ensemble and is performing in New York and throughout New England.

ANNA-MARIE GREEN (ENHP) of Mesa, Ariz., is in her second year as teacher and curriculum specialist at the Arizona Career Academy, a charter high school for at-risk students. Recently named one of 20 teachers to receive scholarships to the University of Arizona, she will study the Constitution and Bill of Rights with Arizona teachers and lawyers.

RYAN HOWSE (A&S) of Bristol, Conn., a 1,000+ career points scorer for the Hawks when a student at the University, has spent the past season playing pro basketball in Ireland. He hopes this will be the first step in a long tenure with pro leagues in Europe. Ryan was one of two Americans on the Belfast Star of the Sea team, winner of the league championship, and led the team in scoring (23 points per game.) and rebounds (11). He has been at home in Bristol for the summer.
