A Lifetime Love of Steamships
When Peter W. Sparre (A&S) arrived at the University of Hartford in the fall of 1963, he already had an encyclopedic knowledge of ocean liners and inter-island packets and had begun drawing "visionary" or imagined steamships. Today his drawings are historically accurate and based on builders' plans and other archival sources. "I am working full time as an artist, and I have never been happier," he said.
Alumna Joins Hartt Faculty
Alumna Joins Hartt Faculty   Pamela Devenport, who graduated summa cum laude from The Hartt School and who holds three degrees ('82, '83, '87) from the University, has been named chair of the Hartt Community Division departments of strings and chamber music. She has also joined the faculty of The Hartt School teaching cello and is the head of the Suzuki Pedagogy program in cello. While at Hartt she was a student of David Wells and David Finckel (Emerson Quartet) and a winner of the Hartt Concerto Competition.
