Welcome to the Office of the Ombudsman
Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of the Ombudsman is to ensure that all members of the University community may raise issues of concern or resolve disputes in a fair and equitable manner. The ombudsman - who serves students, alumni, staff, faculty, administrators, and visitors to campus - facilitates communication when conflicts arise and provides the opportunity for informal resolution.
Acting as an independent, neutral party and committed to confidentiality, the ombudsman may gather information on complaints, clarify issues, expedite processes, or when appropriate, facilitate mediation. The response of the ombudsman is tailored to the dynamics of the complaint and the informed consent of the individual. The ombudsman is respectfully impartial with all parties in a conflict. The ombudsman may make recommendations for review or change when trends, patterns, policies, or procedures of the institution generate conflict and/or concerns.
