Fran Altvater received a 2010 award for Innovations in Teaching and Learning from the University of Hartford for her course design that paired art history survey with student audio tour projects; she explores ways to use wikis, video and audio technology in her courses to help students improve their understanding of the material. Her research on teaching appears in the Journal of Effective Teaching Vol. 9/3 (2009). Her research is centered on medieval sculpture of the Romanesque period, with a particular interest in sacramental art and its connection to sacramental theology. She is also a reviewer of articles and books on archaeology, sculpture, and numismatics with the Year’s Work in Old English Studies. |
