Fang (Faye) Yang, a Visiting Assistant Professor, teaches courses in advertising including advertising principles, advertising tactics, and integrated marketing communications. She received her Ph.D. in Media and Information Studies from Michigan State University, her M.A. in Advertising and Public Relations from University of Alabama, and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Sichuan University in China.
Professor Yang is interested in non-traditional advertising’s role in marketing communications strategy. Her research interests lie in product placement, social media, and brand management. Her recent work explores the impact of movies on the tourism industry.
Before joining the School of Communication, Professor Yang worked as a communication specialist, freelance translator, marketing communications consultant, and college English teacher. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching movies, and playing with her daughter, Shirley.
