Psychology Course Offerings

The Department of Psychology offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate courses each year, covering a broad range of psychology sub-disciplines, including clinical, developmental, health, cognitive, physiological, school, industrial/organizational, and social psychology.  Our classes are small (30 or fewer students in undergraduate classes, 12-20 in graduate classes), allowing ample opportunities for students to interact with faculty.  Psychology students conduct supervised research with faculty on campus, and participate in practica/internships in mental health agencies, schools, and industries throughout the Hartford area and Connecticut. Details regarding the curriculum specific to each program can be found by clicking on the program name.

All of our programs offer applied experiences through practica or internships in the field, as well as research experiences through independent studies, honors and master’s theses, capstone projects, or dissertations supervised by faculty.

Our general psychology master’s program has an accelerated option, which allows advanced undergraduates to apply to earn credits toward both their undergraduate and master’s degrees.

The Department maintains an active chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society for Psychology, and hosts an annual colloquium series and a diversity conference which bring outside speakers to campus. The University’s proximity to Hartford, and its location between New York and Boston, provides a number of other academic and cultural opportunities for students.

Graduates of our programs are successfully employed in a variety of careers, including as clinical or school psychologists, research associates, human resources coordinators, counselors, attorneys, and business owners, to name just a few.
