The University is operating on a normal schedule today. Hartt Community Division classes and activities are canceled for the remainder of today and this evening. This evening's McAuley Lecture, presented by the Presidents' College, has been canceled.
The College of Arts and Sciences has identified a number of priorities to enrich and sustain our vibrant educational community. Through the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends of the College we have been able to invest in several of these priorities; all of which have a significant impact on faculty teaching and research, as well as on student engagement and success. Below are examples of how your gift would support the College of Arts and Sciences:
High Impact Activities for Students: These are activities that research has shown actively engage and retain students. Your investment will provide crucial dollars for students to, for example, collaborate with faculty on research, present at professional conferences, participate in internships, and study abroad.
State-of-the-Art Teaching and Research: Your gift would also help provide seed dollars to faculty to innovate in their classrooms or advance their scholarship. In particular, these funds would be used for faculty professional development, specialized technology and equipment, as well as classroom, laboratory, and research space.
Additional Learning Opportunities: Finally, your gift would help support co-curricular opportunities for students that are not covered by the operating budget. These opportunities include guest speakers, symposia, or field trips.
I want to thank you for considering a gift to the College of Arts and Sciences. Your generosity means the world of difference to our students. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly so that we may discuss how you can help support the College.
