Entrance/Exit Interviews for Perkins Loans

The Federal Perkins Loan Program representative is located in the Bursar's Office and conducts the entrance/exit interviews for Perkins Loan borrowers.

Entrance Interview:  Federal Perkins Loan borrowers must complete an entrance counseling interview prior to the disbursement of their Perkins Loan funds. During this time, you will fill out a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and be briefed on your rights and responsibilities as a borrower.

Entrance Interviews are typically conducted during the month of September. Please contact the Bursar’s Office for details.

Remember to bring your license and a list of three personal references, including their phone number and address. These references may not live at your permanent home address, nor may they live with each other.

Exit Interview:  Whenever a Perkins loan borrower graduates, withdraws, leaves, or drops below half-time status at the University, the student must complete an exit counseling interview according to federal regulations. At this time, borrowers receive important information about their repayment obligations and update their personal information records. Borrowers will also receive information about:

  • Borrower’s grace period of nine (9) months
  • Repayment Deferments for certain defined periods, if eligible
  • Cancellations, if eligible
  • Forbearance Requests

Exit Interviews must be scheduled by appointment. Please contact Amanda Lounsbury at 860-768-4438 to schedule your Exit Interview.

Remember to bring your license and a list of three personal references, including their phone number and address. These references may not live at your permanent home address, nor may they live with each other.
