HartfordBooks Submission Guidelines

HartfordBooks will focus on the history, culture, society, economic life, politics, and people of Connecticut’s capital city. We will only accept proposals for books in these general areas, broadly conceived.

Before sending us a proposal, please send an email letter of inquiry to Warren Goldstein, Chair, Editorial Board, at htfdbooks@hartford.edu, describing your project, how advanced it is, and when you anticipate completing it. 

If the Editorial Board requests a full proposal, it should include the following items:

  • A cover letter
  • A prospectus
  • CV

If available, please also send any, or all of the following:

  • Table of contents
  • Sample chapter or two
  • Anticipated length of the manuscript
  • Anticipated market for your book

We request that you do not submit your complete manuscript unless the Editorial Board has invited you to do so.  Please send electronic versions of proposals to htfdbooks@hartford.edu.  You may also send hard copies to:
