Armed Robbery Investigation

Public Safety and Hartford Police are following several leads in their investigation into an attempted armed robbery on campus Thursday evening. Surveillance photos show at least four men entering the building at the time of the incident.  Further investigation shows the suspects leaving campus in a 2010-2012 gold Chevy Malibu that turned onto Bloomfield Avenue and traveled south. University Public Safety Director John Schmaltz says the incident was not random and the campus community is not at risk. If you have any information about any of the suspects in the photos, please contact Public Safety at 860.768.7985.

Office of the President

Walter Harrison

The University of Hartford is on the move. Our campus continues to develop, and our reputation as a quality educational institution continues to grow dramatically. With 5,300 undergraduates and 1,700 graduate students, we are larger and more selective than at any time in our history. We take great pride in the rich diversity of our students, who come from major international cities like Shanghai and small American towns like Port Alexander, Alaska, to live and learn together.

Our academic programs are outstanding. Known for excellence in the performing and visual arts, the health professions, communication, and business, we are proud of our national recognition and regional prominence in science, engineering, and technology education.

At the University of Hartford, we believe that the challenge of a rigorous academic program and the support of dedicated faculty and staff lead to student success.  We not only prepare students for successful careers; we prepare them for successful lives as citizens in a democracy.

Our story is that of a private university with a public purpose. In 1957 a group of visionary business and community leaders shared the belief that Hartford needed a university. So, they founded one. That spirit of dedication to our community has permeated our mission ever since.

I invite you to join us and see for yourself why the University of Hartford is such a wonderful place to be.

Walter Harrison, President
