Office of the President

Greetings to Students From President Gregory Woodward

Gregory S. Woodward

July 10, 2017

Dear New Friends,

The first week in my new office has finally come and gone. It was a very pleasant but also crazy time, as you can imagine. One takeaway from week one is clear, however; someone should declare that every Tuesday from now on is a holiday!

In my new role, I promise to do everything in my power to make you even more proud of your institution, and to do whatever it takes to secure an elevated and sustainable future for the University of Hartford. It is going to be fun, and I hope that I can count on many of you for your help.

In my experience, when faced with a tough choice or decision to make, the best resource for answers and options has always been the students. I hope that we can work together confidently and collaboratively to make your experiences as good and as powerful as they can be. Please let me know when you see things that need our combined attention and work.

As president, here is a question I always ask myself: has the decision I have just made elevated the student experience? If the answer is no, then it is back to the drawing board. I will try to always remember, and to remind others, that you, the students, come first.

Another fall is almost upon us, filled with the promise of new experiences, new friends, new learning, and another chance to rededicate ourselves to our personal and collective growth. What we do at the University of Hartford is important. The world needs us to do what we do. An enlightened and educated populace is our best future, and the transformed lives of you, our students, will help shape that better future as your influence and work reverberates around the world. How cool is that?! I am ready to get going. I know that you are too.
