FCLD - Teaching with Blackboard

Blackboard is an online learning management system (LMS) that provides ready-made online course templates for teaching online or supplementing face-to-face instruction. Blackboard allows you to post articles, assignments, and other course documents, and includes teaching tools such as discussion boards, blogs, journals, online tests, and surveys. In an emergency (pandemic flu, flood), instructors should plan to use Blackboard to continue teaching. The Faculty Center for Learning Development (FCLD) provides training and support for instructors using Blackboard.  Students needing Blackboard Support should call (860) 515-3742 or submit a ticket.

Course Site Information

Blackboard course sites are created automatically for all scheduled courses using the course listing information in the Banner system. You will receive instructions for logging in to Blackboard when you apply for University e-mail.  Instructors who wish to combine multiple course sections into one course must use the multiple section request form on the Course Requests page. New instructors are encouraged to attend a seminar on Getting Started with Blackboard. For a schedule of seminars, as well as other resources on Blackboard, please visit the FCLD website.

NOTE: In order to access courses, instructor assignments must be registered in the Banner system. If you need help getting listed in Banner, please contact the Registrar's Office at (860) 768-4594.

Additional information about Course Copies, Availability and Course Requests can be found on the Course Requests page.
