From the BYLAWS of the University of Hartford:
PART III. MANAGEMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY
Article II. Faculty. The Faculty of the University shall consist of the President, the Senior Academic Officer, Directors of Academic Divisions, Academic Deans, the Professors, the Associate Professors, the Assistant Professors, and the Instructors, together with such other officers as may be constituted members of the Faculty, and, in addition, provision may be made for assistants, teaching fellows, adjunct faculty members, and other part-time teaching staff. Only full-time faculty members with the rank of instructor or higher shall have the right to vote at Faculty meetings. The President is the head of the Faculty of the University and may call and preside at Faculty meetings.
Nothing herein contained shall preclude the organization of the Faculty of the University into several faculties, consisting of instructional staff engaged in teaching or investigating closely-related subjects.
Section 3. Senate. The Faculty may establish, at its discretion, a legislative body from among members of the full-time Faculty, which shall be known as the Faculty Senate. This body may recommend rules and regulations relating to academic excellence of the University as a whole, and may make recommendations on any matters pertaining to the welfare of the University. The Faculty Senate shall have the power to adopt a constitution and bylaws. All recommendations of the Senate, when validated by the concurrence of the President, shall be deemed conclusive unless and until the Board shall take action thereon.
