Winter Storm Advisory

Due to an impactful winter storm expected throughout the region, the University of Hartford will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 25, and Monday, Jan. 26. This includes Harrison Libraries.

In-person Hartt School auditions that were scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, have been rescheduled.

The Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, is canceled. The exhibition at Silpe Gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Who's Eligible and What's Required

Incoming students can be eligible to participate in the University Honors Program starting their first semester or become eligible once they complete their first semester with a GPA of 3.0. Every student who applies to the University of Hartford is evaluated for their Honors potential. If a student is accepted into the program, they will get notification in their acceptance letter. 

Eligibility Factors

  • SAT or ACT score
  • high school GPA
  • class rank (if available)
  • incoming students who receive a President's or Regents' Scholarship also are eligible for the Honors Program.

Requirements

Participation

After taking an honors course or two, a student must

  1. submit the Declaration Form to their College Coordinator, and
  2. fulfill the specific requirements of the honors program of his or her college, which includes 18 credits and a required grade point average.*
*The program requires completion of 18 credits for each college, with the exception of Hillyer College, which is 9 credits.

General

  • 6 credits of honors general education (e.g., honors WRT and UIS)
  • 6 or 9 credits of advanced honors courses (e.g., HON 300 seminars)
  • 6 or 3 credits of an honors thesis, a senior project, or an honors contract

Some of these credits can be earned by an Honors Contract for a regular course. All honors courses must be taken for a letter grade (not P/NP).
