To a large degree, contemporary life is rooted in the thought and art of ancient Greece.
This course explores the influence of ancient Greek writings -- poetry, philosophy, drama --
and art -- painting, sculpture and architecture -- on modern culture.
You can expect to read Homer's Odyssey, view clips of
Star Wars, study ancient
Greek art, visit local museums and galleries, engage in dialogue with Plato
while discussing aspects of contemporary thought.
You will be asked to write, discuss, think, observe, create, explore, interact and reflect
on your encounters with the Greek poets, philosophers and artists. Your goal is to reach
back into ancient Greece and discover there, connections with your own experiences.
