Barney School Accreditation and Ranking News

On April 19, 2017, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) announced that it has extended the accreditation of the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford.  Only 5% of business schools worldwide earn AACSB accreditation.  AACSB accredited business schools undergo a comprehensive Continuous Improvement Review every five years.  Barney School Dean Marty Roth explained “Our AACSB accreditation extension is testament to our commitment to, and achievements in innovation, engagement, and impact.  I am proud of our faculty, staff, and advisory board’s efforts toward assuring that we meet the very highest business school quality standards.”

Within the past year, the Barney School’s undergraduate and graduate programs have also earned national recognition through distinguished rankings.

The Barney School made its way into the prestigious U.S. News and World Report “Best Graduate Business Schools — Part-time MBA” ranking for 2018. This year, over 300 business schools sought to be ranked by U.S. News.  The Barney School was among the 221 ranked part-time MBA programs, and ended up tied with Providence College and Rochester Institute of Technology, and ahead of regional competitors such as Clark University, Marist College, St. John’s University, and UMass-Boston.  More details on the U.S. News graduate business school rankings can be read here.

The Barney School also landed a spot on the Bloomberg Businessweek “Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2016” ranking.  Bloomberg Businessweek has ranked undergraduate business programs since 2006.  The Barney School is one of just 17 undergraduate business programs nationwide to join the list this year, and one of only 114 nationwide that earned a ranking in 2016.  More information on the Bloomberg Businessweek undergraduate business school rankings can be found here
