New Spaces

New Spaces, New Opportunities

Bridging the gap between the classroom and the real world is a hallmark of the Barney School. Four new learning-focused spaces provide homes for program elements that will enhance recruiting and preparing students for today's business challenges.

The Stanley Black & Decker Commons extends from the campus quad to the south extrances to the building. This bright and welcoming spaceenlivened with electronic displays and a view of the glass-walled trading room—is a place for students to connect with one another, faculty, staff, and visitors. The design fosters interactions that support success in school and beyond.

The R.C. Knox Center for Career and Professional Development focuses on all aspects of career building. Our extensive portfolio of personal and professional development activities and workshops will be delivered here. This flexible space can be reconfigured for individual and group counseling, company and industry presentations, and other activities. Audio-visual equipment is available for practice interviews.

The Trading Room and Analytics Lab simulates trading floors found at asset management and investment banking firms. Bloomberg terminals and other relevant technologies enable students to engage in real-world activities, including actively managing investment funds. The space also provides the technology for advanced data analytics training— another area that is meeting market demand. The Trading Room and Analytics Lab features computer stations, three large panel displays, video conferencing, and a stock ticker visible within and outside the room.

Conceived as a hub for new ideas and business opportunities, the Center for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship is a technology-enabled collaborative space. It’s a place to cross disciplinary boundaries, explore commercial opportunities, crowd-source ideas, and experience the power of cross-college collaboration. A place dedicated to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship—key drivers of today’s economy.

The Alumni Hall of Fame Collaboration Corridor offers inviting spaces for students to meet for project work. The corridor features open area tables as well as access to small and medium sized conference rooms with writable surfaces and display technology. Profiles of our Alumni Hall of Fame members provide a daily source of inspiration.
