About our Online MS in Accounting and Taxation- Taxation Track
Our 100% online Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation (MSAT)—taxation track is designed for those who seek to develop or advance a career in taxation in industry, public accounting, or government. Course work focuses on taxation and covers the application of analytical tools for planning, controlling, and decision-making purposes. The program of study meets the needs of students with undergraduate degrees in accounting who wish a fifth year of study, as well as the needs of students with non-accounting or non-business undergraduate degrees. Graduates of the program (who also have the appropriate undergraduate coursework) are qualified to take the CPA examination.

Our online Masters in Accounting and Taxation consists of 30 credits, with the following 3-credit courses required:
|AC 560 Taxation of Business Organizations
|AC 774 Advanced Taxation of Pass-Through Entities
|AC 776 Advanced Corporate Taxation
|AC 783 Research in Taxation
|AC 789 Seminar in Taxation
The remaining 15 credits are selected from an elective curriculum.
Online Program Specifics
The fully online MSAT—taxation track is designed specifically for working adults and provides the ultimate flexibility you are seeking. With three opportunities throughout the year to begin the program, you can start when it’s most convenient for you. Courses are seven weeks in length, and you complete one course at a time. You will typically graduate in two years.
There are multiple ways to be admitted to this program. You must possess an official bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and ONE of the following:
- Master's degree from regionally accredited institution
- Passage of the CPA, CMA or state bar exam
- Graduation from an AACSB accredited school of business with GPA of 3.5 or better in both major and degree program (or 3.3 if University of Hartford graduate)
- GMAT score of 500 or better
- Substantial work experience (more than 5 years of strong financial analytical experience; requires an interview)
You must also have completed the following accounting core courses (or their equivalents) that are traditionally taught as part of an undergraduate accounting major:
- AC 210: Financial Accounting
- AC 211: Managerial Accounting
- AC 320, 321, and 322: Financial Reporting Theory I,II, III
- AC332: Cost Management
- AC 425: Federal Income Tax Concepts
- AC 430: Auditing Concepts and Problems
Applicants who have passed the CPA or CMA examination will receive an automatic waiver of the above undergraduate course requirements. Applicants who have not completed the undergraduate prerequisites listed above may take them at the start of the program. (MBA 612: Accounting Concepts satisfies AC 210 and ACC 211.)
