In June 2004, Paul Mali, professor emeritus of management in the Barney School of Business, and his wife, Mary, stepped forward with a $500,000 gift to build two state-of-the-art lecture rooms in Dana Hall. The Malis' donation is the largest faculty gift ever received by the university. |

Chuck Seeman '76 and Bill Seeman '77 The Manfred and Carol Seeman Endowed Scholarship was created by Chuck Seeman '76 and Bill Seeman '77 as a way to honor their parents Manfred and Carol while providing financial assistance to Barney students living in southeastern Connecticut. |
"I thought the scholarship fund was a wonderful idea, especially since both of my sons had gone to the University of Hartford and had very good experiences there," said Manfred Seeman. Manfred grew up in Austria, but the Holocaust forced him to flee with his family when he was just 14. He fought in the Pacific during World War II, earning the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After the war, he put himself through college, earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and started a successful furniture company. "I think my father was very touched by the scholarship established in his name," Bill Seeman said. "Hopefully, our parents will be associated with the University of Hartford for a long time to come."
Since then, Chuck and his wife Susan have established three more endowed funds in support of the university, the Barney School and Hillyer College. One of the funds established is a scholarship in their own names: The Chuck and Susan Seeman Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship will assist Hillyer students who continue at the University by entering the Barney School.
