Is There A Demand For Actuaries?

At The Travelers, we are the largest insurance company employer of property casualty actuaries in the country with approximately 200 Casualty Actuarial Society credentialed actuaries. We also have approximately 100 people in our Actuarial Leadership Development Programs who are actively taking upper level exams. We recruit approximately 25 to 30 summer interns each year, most of whom leave the company in the fall of their senior year with offers for employment.

CIGNA currently employs over ninety credentialed actuaries and approximately sixty actuaries who are pursuing credentials in the Society of Actuaries. Shifts in the current healthcare market, largely driven by demographic changes and rising healthcare costs, have created a steady demand for professionals who can understand the impacts to our risk profile and strategize how to profitably gain from new market opportunities.

Actuarial talent can be difficult to find and having a strong actuarial program in Aetna's backyard should be of great value to us.
