Navjyoti Scholarship Fund

In 2007, the University of Hartford's Engineers Without Borders Team began a project to install a solar-powered well in the Indian village of Abheypur in collaboration with the Navjyoti India Foundation.  Throughout this two-year process, it became clear to all involved that water was not the only need in Abheypur, or in India.  Founded by Dr. Kiran Bedi in 1988, the Navjyoti India Foundation NGO ( promotes self-reliance among Indians and recently took the important step of opening several, affordable community colleges throughout India.  This effort and the University of Hartford’s long association with Navjyoti inspired the creation of the Navjyoti Scholarship Fund.

Established in August of 2011 by Olivia Cooley and Rayva Khanna, the Navjyoti Scholarship Fund is a dedicated non-profit collaboration between the University of Hartford and the Navjyoti India Foundation.  Our objective is to provide young Indian men and women with scholarships so that more may attend the recently opened Navjyoti Community College.  We appreciate any help you can give.
