Professor Pines joined the University of Hartford in Fall 1998. He holds a B.S degree in Chemical Engineering, a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. The connection between these different engineering degrees is his interest in water treatment, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Prior to teaching at the University of Hartford, he worked in the aerospace industry on the design and development of fuel cells and the portable life support system for astronauts when going on space walks.
