Admission Requirements

Applicants who hold baccalaureate degrees in engineering fields not usually considered typical (electrical, mechanical, civil, aerospace, chemical, computer, or control engineering are typical engineering degrees), or who hold baccalaureate or master's degrees in non-engineering fields or in engineering technology, or those whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 but who have appropriate architecture or engineering experience will be considered on an individual basis. The same applies to applicants holding bachelor's degrees from institutions not accredited by EAC/ABET.

Requirements for Engineering and Science

Applicants in these categories may be required to complete specified undergraduate engineering courses before being admitted to the Master of Engineering program. Students should obtain at least a B grade in all such preparatory courses. Applicants may enroll for up to 6 credits on a non-matriculated basis prior to making formal application for admission. Grades of courses taken on this basis will be considered in the review of the application.

  • Engineering candidates must have an appropriate baccalaureate degree in engineering from an engineering degree program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Requirements for Architecture

  • Students applying to the Master of Architecture program are required to submit the following items. Please check with the university’s graduate admission page for more information.

  • Application fee

  • Completed Application Form

  • Letter of Intent

  • Official transcripts (a minimum 3.0 GPA as an undergraduate)

  • Three letters of recommendation.

  • Architecture candidates must submit a portfolio and must hold a pre-professional architectural degree(or equivalent) from an accredited collegiate institution with a GPA of at least 3.0.  Pre-professional architecture degrees include, but are not limited to a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, or a BS in Architectural Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, or Architectural Design + Technology. Other similar degrees will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants without a pre-professional architecture degree

Applicants who hold baccalaureate degrees in fields not usually considered to be a pre-professional architecture degree, or who hold baccalaureate or master's degrees in non-architectural fields, or those whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 but who have appropriate architectural experience will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants in these categories may be required to complete specified undergraduate architecture courses before being admitted to the Master of Architecture program. Students should obtain at least a B grade in all such preparatory courses. Applicants may enroll for up to 6 graduate credits on a non-matriculated basis prior to making formal application for admission. Grades of courses taken on this basis will be considered in the review of the application.


International student applicants

English Proficiency

TOEFL, PTE or IELTS For students who are not native speakers of the English Language

  • Average TOEFL scores for students range from a minimum of 80 (Internet Based Total), and 550 (Paper Based Total). The minimum score for the PTE is a 58. IELTS minimum score for graduate studies is 6.5.

Guarantor's Statement of Financial Support

International students must provide a Guarantor’s Statement of Financial Support with their application for admission.
