The University of Hartford's Center for Professional Development (CPD) has received a Community Development Block Grant of nearly $64,000 from the City of Hartford to support the Hartford Small Business Technical Assistance Program (SBTAP). This one-year grant will be used specifically by CPD's Entrepreneurial Center to help existing businesses remain in Hartford as part of the "One City, One Plan" program. - full story here

If anyone had any doubts about the enthusiasm for entrepreneurship in Connecticut, those concerns were quelled on Wednesday at the Connecticut Venture Group and University of Connecticut’s conference “Connecting Opportunities: Driving Innovation through University Resources” at UConn’s Storrs campus.

The Center for Professional Development (CPD) at the University of Hartford is pleased to announce that the Prudential Foundation has awarded the CPD's Entrepreneurial Center a grant of $75,000 to provide business advising and technical assistance to aspiring and established entrepreneurs.

More than 44,000 small businesses in Connecticut, 76.5 percent, are eligible for health care tax credits under the federal reform law, according to research released Tuesday. Also, 12,900 of those would qualify for the maximum credit of 35 percent of premium costs.

Hartford, a two-hour drive from both Boston and New York City, is the capital of one the country's wealthiest states, and a low-cost alternative to other major cities in the Northeast.
