Introducing Banner 7.0
Posted 1/3/2006
Effective today (Jan. 3), Version 7 of the Banner Administrative Systems will be installed and functional. This new version of Banner will have a new look and feel:
Now that Banner 7 is in production, your Banner 7 password will be your old Banner 6 password.
The first time you access Banner 7, you will be required to download a special piece of software called the JINITIATOR. Just follow the on-screen directions. Once this software is installed you should be able to continue with Banner 7.
If you have a problem, call Allan Geetter at 768.4889.
PC Browser Information
If you are using the IE browser, never change the URL to go to another website. This will result in your Banner 7 screen going away. Always start a new IE browser session. If you are using the FIREFOX browser, you only need to start another browser tab to go to another website or a new FIREFOX browser session.
Banner 7 PC Settings
Banner 7 is designed to fill the browser screen in full screen mode. This will only happen if your screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768 pixels. You can check your PC screen setting by placing your cursor on an open area of your screen and then pressing the right button on your mouse. A small menu will appear and you need to select the PROPERTIES option. Click the SETTINGS TAB on the Display Properties window. Your pixel setting is displayed in an area called SCREEN AREA on the right side. If the pixel setting is anything less than 1024 x 768, you will not see all of the data on your Banner screens and you will need to use the scroll bars.
Please note that changing the pixel setting to 1024 x 768 will cause all of your icons and icon descriptions to appear smaller. To change your screen resolution setting to 1024 x 768, move the slide marker to the right. To do this, place your cursor arrow on the slide marker, hold down the left mouse button and move it to the right, noticing the change in pixels. Pressing the OK button will change the screen appearance only temporarily. To make the change permanent, you need to press the "Apply" button. Remember, you can always go back to your original setting by reversing the marker movement to the old pixel setting. You will have to decide what is best for your vision.
Banner 7 and the MAC
Banner 7 will only work on MACs running OS10 and Safari. MAC OS9 is not supported by ITS. Banner 7 will not work with the IE browser. If anyone is currently on a MAC running OS9, please call the Help Desk at 768.5999, stating this situation.
