The Office of Admission is looking for graduate assistants to work as regional admission counselors for the 2006–08 academic years, acting as the University’s "presence" in recruitment efforts.

The position will involve recruiting prospective students by visiting local high schools and attending national/state college fairs in the fall of 2006 and fall of 2007, in a given territory. In-house training will begin the first week of August and recruitment will take place from mid-September through mid-December.

A stipend, as well as reimbursement for travel related expenses, will be paid during the fall semesters (while on the road). In addition, the Office of Admission will pay 100 percent of full-time graduate tuition in the spring and summer semesters. This arrangement allows for alternating periods of full-time employment and full-time graduate study. A second-year appointment will be made if employment and academic responsibilities are satisfactorily met, allowing for completion of a master’s degree at the conclusion of the second year.

The ideal candidates should be active within the University and must possess strong communication skills, excellent time-management skills and enthusiasm for the University. In addition, the candidates must meet the academic standards (GPA requirement, GRE/GMAT, etc.) conducive with matriculating into a graduate program.

These positions will remain open until filled; however, interested students are asked to apply by Feb. 28, 2006. If you are interested in the position, or if you can recommend a graduating senior who you feel would do a commendable job representing the University to prospective students and families, please contact Julie Spring, assistant director of Admission and Student Financial Assistance, at 768.4946 or jspring@hartford.edu.
