Car Fire in B-Lot Thursday
A van belonging to a University vendor caught fire in B-Lot on Thursday (Sept. 27). There were no injuries.
According to Public Safety, the blue 1996 Ford Econoline Van was parked adjacent to the island in B-Lot, closest to Gengras Student Union. Upon exiting the vehicle, operator Randy Skolnick of New York lit a cigarette and threw the lighter back into his vehicle, Public Safety reported. Skolnick stated that at that point he left his vehicle and proceeded toward the west side of GSU. Skolnick later told Public Safety that he was not sure if the lighter was extinguished before throwing it back into the vehicle.
Skolnick is a vendor who was contracted by the Campus Activities Team (CAT) to sell flowers, plants and fish on the west side of GSU.
