Barbara Cooke Staff Appreciation Awards Presented to Henowitz and Pomposelli

At the September meeting of the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dean Joseph Voelker presented the 2012 Barbara Cooke Staff Appreciation Awards to Office Coordinator of Sociology and Criminal Justice Sally Henowitz and Computer Support Engineer Jason Pomposelli.
The awards, endowed by former Assistant to the Dean Barbara Cooke, recognize and appreciate the work that A&S staff members do in support of faculty, students, and other staff on a daily basis.
In his nomination, Sociology Chair Doug Eichar described Henowitz's extensive duties, and reported that she has a great relationship with students. As a part of her tireless efforts to create a sense of community, she transformed tiny Hillyer 418 (a former office) into a welcoming social space for the department.
In her nomination of Pomposelli, Susan Gottlieb of the Greenberg Center wrote that “Jason, as our computer support specialist, faces a multitude of challenges every day. Jason interfaces with faculty and staff under, in many instances, trying situations. We’ve all had the problem and uttered the dreaded phrase ‘ooh, ooh, I lost it all.’ Jason has the ability and personality to calm one’s nerves and solve the problem. He truly is an asset to the College and University."
In honor of the 5th year of the Awards’ presentation, Voelker presented Cooke with a University of Hartford Windsor Rocking Chair.
The College is proud of the skill and devotion of its staff, and grateful to Barbara Cooke for creating this means of saying thank you.
