HAS Alum Patricia Rosoff and Faculty Member Ellen Carey to Hold Reading and Book Signing Saturday
Hartford Art School alumna Patricia Rosoff M'88 and Associate Professor of Photography Ellen Carey will be holding a reading and book signing on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Salisbury, Conn.
The program will take place from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Scoville Memorial Library, 38 Main St., in Salisbury.
Scoville is the author of Innocent Eye: A Passionate Look at Contemporary Art, which features Carey and a number of other contemporary artists. According to the Scoville Library website, "Rosoff offers a first-hand tour of the sometimes shocking, often challenging ideas and approaches that fuel today's contemporary art field. She touches on some of the surprising takes on painting sculpture, photography, and mixed media by such experimental innovators such as Ellen Carey, Spencer Finch, Janine Antoni, and Iñigo Manglano-Ovale. With close consideration of conceptualists, including works by Sol LeWitt and Mierle Ukeles, Pat Rosoff is the museum guide you've always wished to have along."
Rosoff serves as Academic Dean of Humanities at Kingswood Oxford School, where since 1975 she has taught studio art and art history. Rosoff has been a long-time contributor to Art New England and was art critic for the Hartford Advocate newspaper from 1994-2007. Her book Innocent Eye: A Passionate Look at Contemporary Art was published in February 2013.
