Palmer’s new novel, The Fifth Vial, was just released last month by St. Martin’s Press. His fifth novel, Extreme Measures, was turned into a 1996 feature film starring Hugh Grant, Gene Hackman, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
In addition to writing, Palmer is an associate director of the Massachusetts Medical Society Physician Health Services, a tax-exempt corporation within the Medical Society that is devoted to helping physicians troubled by mental and physical illnesses, behavioral issues, and chemical dependencies.
Palmer, who is board certified in internal medicine, received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Wesleyan University in 1989 and the Shining Star Award for Community Service from the Victory Programs of New England in 2003. He earned bachelor’s degrees in biology and Russian from Wesleyan University, and earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. He interned at Boston City Hospital and did his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital.
