During the summer months, the Faculty Center for Learning Development (FCLD) moved forward in its mission of assisting faculty with the incorporation of technology and new teaching methods into their established curricula.
Instructors using the Blackboard Course Management System should be sure they have all their courses ready for the fall semester. Instructors may submit course requests for fall Blackboard courses at anytime using the online course request form on the FCLD website.
If you already submitted course requests, but do not see them when you log in, please send us a reminder and we will set them up as quickly as we can. Automatic enrollments of students into Blackboard courses are continuing on a daily basis, Monday – Friday. If you do not see students in your Blackboard roster within a day of receiving confirmation that your Blackboard course is ready, please contact FCLD for assistance at 768.4661 or fcld@hartford.edu.
As part of the FCLD Learning Series, the Faculty Center for Learning Development offers seminars on Blackboard, as well as a variety of topics designed to help faculty learn and use technology to support teaching and learning. Upcoming seminars are listed on the FCLD website.
Instructors who would like assistance getting started using Blackboard in their teaching should please contact FCLD at fcld@hartford.edu for an orientation to the software.
- The FCLD hosted two full days of “Interactive PowerPoint,” several Blackboard seminars, and a special “Getting Started with Blackboard” August seminar devoted exclusively to our adjunct faculty, in addition to providing individual consulting.
- Ideas for new workshops and seminars are always welcome. If you have a topic on technology and teaching that you wish to present to your peers, please contact FCLD. We would be happy to organize and publicize the seminar for you as part of our Learning Series Seminars.
- FCLD is pleased to announce the arrival of Educational Technologist Ella Holst, who joined FCLD in May. Ella worked for many years at Fairfield University as a software support specialist and also works as an independent consultant and software instructor. Please drop by and say hello if you are in the library.
- The new semester is upon us and we will continue to keep you updated on our events and activities. Please feel free to contact FCLD Director Lorelle Wilson with any comments, questions or instructional needs that you might have (768.4253 or lpwilson@hartford.edu).
