Campus Concierge Has The Answers

Want to find out what’s happening on and off campus this weekend? Looking for information on hotels and restaurants in the area?

That information and much more is available through the Campus Concierge, a comprehensive new resource for members of the University of Hartford community, neighbors, and visitors.

The Campus Concierge was established by the Office of Student Centers & Activities. Staffed by students and located in the entrance lobby of Gengras Student Union, the Campus Concierge booth offers countless maps, brochures, event calendars and informational guides to destinations both on and off campus, as well as discount tickets to movies and area attractions.

The Campus Concierge is also available online. The Campus Concierge website, at www.campusconcierge.org, maintains informational links for area hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist information, along with links to important university resources.

The Campus Concierge concept is designed to bridge campus life with people, places and events beyond the University of Hartford. As the university expands its reach into the community and as more students and visitors are expected to arrive on campus, the Campus Concierge will be an increasingly valuable resource.

A visit to the booth these days will reveal student hosts fielding questions from an incoming class of freshmen who are still rife with questions about getting around on campus. The big questions start with the words “where” or “who.”

In time, the student hosts hope to act in more of a typical concierge capacity – making dinner recommendations and reservations, suggesting shopping sites, and coordinating weekend trips for customers, including monthly bus trips across the region. This month’s bus trip, a shopping excursion to Boston’s Quincy Market, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17.

For information on the upcoming bus trip and on future events, stop by the booth. Campus Concierge staff are available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
