Call for Proposals: Ramsey Award for Adjunct and Part-Time Faculty
Proposals are being accepted through Friday, April 16, for the Gordon Clark Ramsey Award for Creative Excellence for Adjunct and Part-Time Faculty.
Established in 2005 upon the retirement of Gordon Clark Ramsey, a long-time adjunct who served as secretary to the Faculty Senate for 18 years, the award honors the work of dedicated adjuncts who have taught and/or teach at the University. Ramsey, a strong advocate for adjunct and part-time faculty, passed away in June 2007.
Three recipients will be selected for a cash award and recognition at the Fall Faculty/Staff Kickoff. The award is open to any adjunct or part-time faculty member who has taught at the University of Hartford for at least two semesters, one of which must be fall 2009 or spring 2010.
The award may be for:
– a proposed scholarly or creative project related to classroom teaching, or
– prior sustained scholarly or creative work related to classroom teaching over several years.
The cash award may be used for travel to conferences, for consultations, or for materials, supplies, or other expenses related to the creative project.
The proposal may be a nomination or self-generated, and should consist of no more than two single-spaced pages (no supplemental materials or attachments), and a one-page letter of support from a University of Hartford full-time faculty member or administrator.
The application/nomination form, the proposal, and the letter of support must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 16. The materials can be submitted by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, or hand-delivered to the Faculty Senate office, CC 314.
For more information, including an application/nomination form, please visit the Faculty Senate website, or call the Faculty Senate office at 860.768.4475.
