Representatives from libraries around Connecticut gathered at the University of Hartford recently to discuss future trends in the library field.

“Trendspotting in the 21st Century” was the theme of the Connecticut Library Consortium Symposium, which the university hosted on Oct. 21.

The guest speakers were: Leslie Burger ’88, a Barney School alumnus and President-Elect of the American Library Association; Terry Plum, Assistant Dean for Technology, Simmons College; George Needham, Vice President, Member Services, Online Computer Library Consortium (OCLC); and Brian Hoogendam, President of Advanced Reality and Jybe. University Provost Donna Randall and Randi Ashton-Pritting, director of University Libraries, welcomed the attendees.

The speakers discussed future collaborative projects, software, products, research assessment, virtual reference, and shared their environmental scans of the library field. Libraries from all sectors of the field in Connecticut were represented at the symposium.
