"Holy Sites/Sights," a collection of photographs by students and faculty of the Hartford Art School documenting archaeological excavations in Israel, will be exhibited this month at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire’s Foster Gallery.

The exhibit opens today (Friday, Dec. 2), and will remain on display through Dec. 21. Hartford Art School photography instructor Christine Dalenta ’91, ’94, who is curator of the exhibit, will give a lecture at the Foster Gallery this afternoon. Her talk will be followed by an opening reception for the exhibition.

The exhibit first appeared at the Hartford Art School’s Silpe Gallery in September 2003. It includes more than 100 photographs of holy areas and excavation sites in Israel, and documents the archaeological work of University of Hartford Professor Richard Freund, his colleagues, and some of his students.

Twenty-nine photos were selected to be displayed in the Foster Gallery.

The Foster Gallery, the UW–Eau Claire Department of Geography and Anthropology, and the Hartford Art School collaborated to bring this exhibit to UW–Eau Claire.
