Students, faculty, and staff who want to purchase parking permits for the 2009-10 academic year will complete most of the process online.
When faculty, staff, and students purchase parking permits for the 2009-10 academic year, they won’t have to fill out forms at the Public Safety office – instead, they will complete most of the process online.

The Department of Public Safety is preparing to launch a new, online system that will allow members of the University community to order parking permits – and to review, pay, and appeal tickets – through the online Self-Service Center.

The new system is designed to save paper, increase convenience, and eliminate long lines at the Public Safety office. Here’s how it will work . . .

Ordering Your Parking Permit

(Please note that the new system is not yet available online. It is expected to be operational sometime during the week of Aug. 17. Faculty, staff, and students will be notified by e-mail when the online parking permit registration system is up and running.)

Once you receive the email notification, log onto the Self-Service Center, click the "Public Safety/Parking" link, and follow the directions for reserving your permit.

All faculty, staff, and students must enter their vehicle information and reserve their permits online. For those who do not have access to a computer, there are computers available in Mortensen Library and in the student labs. You may also register your vehicle and print your temporary permit from home by going to the Self-Service Center.

– After completing the online permit registration process, faculty, staff, and commuter students will print out a temporary permit, which is good until Sept. 16 at 8 a.m. and must be prominently displayed in their vehicle while on campus. They must then bring their University ID to the Department of Public Safety office before Sept. 16, to receive a permanent valid permit to display in their car.

     – Faculty and staff must also bring the $25 permit fee, which can be paid by check or cash (no coins will be accepted). If paying in cash, the correct amount would be greatly appreciated.

     – Commuter students must bring their vehicle registration. They will be billed for their parking permits; the parking fees will show up on their electronic billing statements.

Resident students who complete the online registration process will be able to print out a temporary permit, which is good until Sept. 3 at 8 a.m. and must be prominently displayed in their vehicle while on campus. They must then bring their vehicle registration and University ID to the Department of Public Safety office before Sept. 3, to receive a permanent valid permit to display in their car.

Resident students will be billed for their parking permits; the parking fees will show up on their electronic billing statements.
