Linda Greenhouse, the Pulitzer Prize-winning U.S. Supreme Court reporter for The New York Times, will give a lecture on Tuesday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m., in Lincoln Theater.

Greenhouse's talk is part of the Rogow Distinguished Visiting Lecturers Program. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For tickets, call the University of Hartford box office at 860.768.4228 or 1.800.274.8587.

In 1998, Greenhouse was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in journalism (beat reporting) "for her consistently illuminating coverage of the United States Supreme Court." She is a recipient of the Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and the John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.

Greenhouse began covering the U.S. Supreme Court for The New York Times in 1978. With the exception of two years during the mid-1980s, during which she covered Congress, she has been the paper's Supreme Court correspondent ever since. Previously, she covered local and state government and politics for The Times in New York, and was chief of the newspaper's legislative bureau in Albany.

Greenhouse, who grew up in Hamden, Conn., received a bachelor of arts in government from Radcliffe College in 1968, and she earned a master of studies in law on a Ford Foundation Fellowship from Yale Law School.
