Suzi D'Annolfo and John Tapper, assistant professors of education in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP), provided a professional development session for the faculty at the University of Hartford Magnet School (UHMS) on Oct. 26.

As part of the work of ENHP's Institute for Translational Research, D'Annolfo engaged the faculty in an interactive, 90-minute workshop on "How the Brain Learns and its Impact on Teaching and Learning," and Tapper facilitated a hands-on, 60-minute workshop on "Math and Inquiry."

ENHP's partnership with UHMS teachers has been longstanding, with individual professors and teachers working together over the past 10 years. Working collaboratively with UHMS Principal Elaina Brachman and Assistant Principal Tim Barber, D'Annolfo, who is ENHP coordinator of school partnerships, organized this particular session to advance the work in a "Community of Practice" forum, where teachers at UHMS and the University's Department of Education work together to benefit children and inform professional practice.
