A Round-Up of Media Coverage of President Obama's Visit to University of Hartford

The historic visit of President Barack Obama to the University of Hartford on Monday, April 8, generated a tremendous amount of news coverage and media mentions for the University. Here are some of the most significant and most interesting:

Here is a link to a round-up of video coverage of the President’s visit on NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, and other national news outlets.

The Washington Post published a preview story on April 2 and an event story on April 8.  USA Today also did a preview story on April 2 and an event story on April 9. The Boston Globe published a story on the speech on April 9.

ABC40/FOX6, in Springfield, Mass., did a story on about people lining up for tickets to see the President on Friday, April 5, and a report on the President’s arrival on April 8.

There were also stories covering the speech on news services such as Bloomberg News, and in such publications as the Daily Mail in the UK; the Irish Times; and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In addition, the PBS NewsHour posted a video of the President’s speech in its entirety.

WTNH NewsChannel 8 did its noon, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts live from the lawn outside the ISET building on April 8 and did stories with University students about their excitement over the President’s visit.

In addition, University President Walter Harrison was a guest on WTIC Radio’s “Ray Dunaway Show” on Tuesday morning, April 9, to talk about the impact of the President’s visit on the University campus.

Aja Wilson, who graduated from The Hartt School in 2010 with a degree in jazz vocal performance and who is currently a graduate MBA student in the Barney School was a guest on the FOX CT Morning News Show on Wednesday, April 10, on which she was interviewed and performed one of her own compositions.
